Project Blue Letter recommends the OpenDyslexic font for letters from Santa

We have had great success in using the OpenDyslexic typeface, which is specially designed to make your letters more legible for anyone who has dyslexia. You can visit opendyslexic.org to access the font and support this worthwhile effort.

What’s next?

Kris is currently working on the Project Blue Letter Playbook, which will incorporate the experiences and advice of his personal experience, and that of others who have pursued this effort independently. He hopes to have this work completed before the 2023 holiday season begins.

If you have had experience working with communities to provide responses to children’s letters to Santa and would like to participate in this project, please fill out the form on this page or email kris@krisandholly.com. Even if we’ve already published the playbook, we expect to have future editions and would love your participation. Thank you!

“Anyone can be Santa, foster belief, and bring joy to countless children.”

Project Blue Letter in the Media

Kris, Officer Davies, and the Upper Merion Police Department were featured on Philadelphia’s 6ABC over their first-year effort in 2020.

The Story Behind Project Blue Letter

The COVID-19 pandemic provided many challenges throughout the 2020 holiday season. And with those challenges, there rose some interesting solutions. In Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, for example, Officer Joseph Davies and local Santa Michael Sheinbaum teamed up to deliver responses to over 400 letters to Santa from children along with a stuffed animal. Each letter was personally responded to by Santa, and the police delivered the presents and letters to every child.

The effort, Project Blue Letter, was so successful that Michael expanded his program to include Bryson City, NC and may consider expanding to other interested locations. Michael’s primary goal for 2023 is to produce and deliver up to 1000 letters to children in these areas.

A second goal is to produce a playbook so that other Santas can spread this magic with their municipalities. There’s a lot that goes into making this sort of thing happen…1000 letters have to get to the right 1000 children, for example. And Michael has no wish to take responsibility for what others write in their letters or suggest what should be in a response from Santa. However, a playbook that can navigate through this challenging endeavor may help other Santas interested in doing similar. Project Blue Letter plans to publish that playbook some time in 2023.
