Santa's Mailbox
How the mailbox got started.
Kris & Holly's tradition of sending responses to children's Santa letters began in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
While living in King of Prussia, PA, Kris & Holly learned that the local police had to adapt to the challenging season. Traditionally, the Upper Merion Police Department would arrange for the local PetCo to allow children to pick a stuffed animal. That was, of course, impossible during the shut down. So the police came up with a solution. If a child wrote a letter to Santa and sent it to the department, the police would respond by driving to the child's house and providing a stuffed animal.
Kris & Holly loved this idea. However, they had a question for the police: who is responding to all of those letters? When they learned the children were just getting the stuffed animal, Kris volunteered to write a response to each of the children. The UMPD loved the idea, and figured that together they would reach the couple dozen or so children who would send Santa a letter.
Little would they realize that the number of letters skyrocketed to over 450 letters! While both the police and Kris & Holly had their work cut out for them, they lived up to the challenge and delivered a stuffed animal and a custom letter to each child, making a challenging year a bit brighter.
Kris & Holly and the Upper Merion Police Department has continued that tradition every year since 2020. And we've extended this to various municipal departments in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and, of course, Delmarva which we now call home. And we would love to extend this service to you as well.
We never charge for letters; all you have to do is fill out the form launched by the button below. In a few days, you will receive a PDF file with Santa's response in a dyslexia-friendly font with the signature portion deliberately left out. That gives you the opportunity to print out the document and sign it yourself as Santa so you can participate as well.
